Overview
SafeTrade (“we”, “us”, or “our”) helps businesses transact safely when buying and selling used phones by verifying customers and the devices offered, and by providing inventory and ledger management features to business partners.
This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we retain it, who we share it with, and how users can exercise their rights. This policy is written to align with Google Play's User Data & Data Safety requirements.
1. Information We Collect
Business partner data
- Full name, contact details (phone number, email).
- Business identifiers such as GST number (if provided) — used for verification and compliance.
- Ledger and transaction history (sales / purchases / inventory) to enable app functionality.
Customer & device data
- Customer name and contact details submitted during a transaction.
- Device identifiers such as IMEI or device serial (used to verify device authenticity).
- Temporary copies of government ID (Aadhaar) and GST documents when provided for verification.
Other data collected
- Location (latitude/longitude): precise location of the business partner at time of transaction to record where a device was purchased or sold (fraud prevention & reporting).
- SMS access: to send and receive verification messages related to IMEI checks and transaction confirmations.
- Device storage (temporary): for transient storage of uploaded verification documents prior to processing.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Device verification: IMEI and SMS flows confirm a device’s authenticity as part of the buying/selling process.
- Identity verification: temporary use of Aadhaar/GST to confirm identity/business registration when provided by users.
- Inventory & ledger management: store transaction details and inventory status for business partners.
- Fraud prevention & reporting: location data and device identifiers help detect suspicious activity.
- Operational communications: SMS notifications, transaction confirmations, and support messages.
3. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep data only as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Specific retention rules:
- Aadhaar & GST documents: Stored only temporarily for verification and are automatically deleted by a secure background process within 10 minutes of successful verification (or earlier if verification fails).
- SMS messages: Sent/received messages used for verification are processed as required; we do not read or use SMS content for purposes beyond verification and may retain metadata as necessary for troubleshooting and fraud prevention.
- Transaction, ledger, inventory, and device records: Retained as required for business records and applicable laws; retention length may vary by jurisdiction.

4. Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties. We may share data only in the following limited situations:
- Service providers: trusted vendors who process data on our behalf (hosting, SMS providers, analytics) under contract and confidentiality obligations.
- Legal obligations: when required by law, court order, or to respond to lawful government requests.
- Safety & fraud prevention: if necessary to prevent fraud or protect the safety of our users or third parties.
5. Permissions & Google Play Disclosure
This section is written to match what you will disclose in Google Play Console's Data Safety & Permission declarations.
Required/Requested permissions
- SMS (SEND_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS / READ_SMS): used exclusively to send verification messages and to receive verification responses related to IMEI checks and transaction confirmations. These permissions are essential for device verification; they are not used for advertising or marketing.
- Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): used to attach precise latitude/longitude to transactions (purchase/sale) for fraud prevention and reporting. Location is used only when the business partner performs a transaction and is not used for continuous background tracking beyond the transaction context.
- Storage (temporary): used only to hold uploaded verification documents (Aadhaar/GST) until they are processed and deleted (within 10 minutes).
Google Play Data Safety mapping (summary)
- Data categories collected: Location (precise), Personal info (name, contact), Identifiers (IMEI), Sensitive personal info (government ID - Aadhaar), Financial info (ledger/transaction history), Messages (SMS).
- Data shared: Only with service providers & when required by law.
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with reasonable technical safeguards.
- User controls: Users can request access, corrections, or deletion; Aadhaar/GST auto-deleted after 10 minutes.
6. Security Measures
We take reasonable measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of user data, including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for data transfers.
- Access controls and role-based access for our systems.
- Secure deletion processes for temporary documents (automatic background deletion within 10 minutes for Aadhaar/GST files).
- Periodic security reviews and vendor assessments.
No system can be 100% secure. If you suspect a security issue, contact us immediately (see contact details below).
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction and where applicable law permits, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of personal data (subject to legal retention obligations).
- Withdraw consent for processing where consent was relied upon.

8. Children & Minors
SafeTrade is intended for business users and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

We may update this policy occasionally (for example to reflect new features or legal requirements). When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date and, where required by law, notify users of material changes.
